The Coffee Book Tag

I was tagged a while ago by Alyssa at The Ultimate Book Geek to do the Coffee Book Tag, but I’m still catching up on all my tags at the moment, so it’s a bit overdue, but here it is anyway! Black: A Series that is tough to get into, but has hardcore fans.

I tried to read the first book but I found it uninteresting and just not my thing, but I understand that it has been a very popular series.

Peppermint Mocha: A Book or series that get more popular during the winter/festive time of the year.

I always love to read classical books in the winter-time; books like Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre.

Hot Chocolate: A Favourite Children’s book.

I like a lot of children’s books, but these are probably my favourites. A couple of years ago, I was obsessed with adventure and mystery books, so Enid Blyton’s Famous Five books and Murder Most Unladylike were right up my street. Harry Potter is just appealing to everyone, I think, and there is such a lot of charm in Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland.

Double-shot of Espresso: A book that kept you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Miss Peregrine’s Home of Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. I originally read it last October, and I just loved every single page. I recently read the second book in the series and felt exactly the same – I can’t wait to read the third book in the trilogy: Library of Souls when it comes out in paperback.

Star Bucks: A book you see everywhere.

I see this book literally everywhere: in bookshops, charity shops, online, on everyone’s blogs. And I’m not surprised: Gone Girl is a pretty amazing book, but personally I think I prefer some of Gillian Flynn’s other books: Sharp Objects is my favourite.

The Hipster Coffee Shop: A Book by an Indie Author (Shout-Out)

I don’t actually think I’ve read any books by indie authors, so I can’t actually answer this one.

Oops! I accidentally got Decaf: A Book You were expecting more from.

 

This book was a big disappointment for me. I was expecting a much bigger plot-line and better characters, but in all honesty: nothing happened! I put the book down feeling very dissatisfied and I would certainly never read it again or recommend it to anyone, unless you feel like reading a really uneventful book.

I fairness, the characters were well-developed, and the writing was good, it was just the plot that was very poorly executed.

The Perfect Blend: a series that was both bitter and sweet but ultimately satisfying.

I’ve only actually read The Selection and half of The Elite so far, but I’m getting the impression that it is a mixture of both bitter and sweet. They’re really easy to read books, and although they have their faults, they’re a bit of a guilty-pleasure. 🙂

Green Tea: a book or series that is quietly beautiful.

This book carries some very powerful messages, but it is beautiful and charming all at the same time. It’s a fantastic book.

Chai Tea: a book or series that makes you dream of far away places.

 

Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland – such an adventurous and imaginative book.

Earl Grey: a favourite classic.

 

Oh, I just love this book. The characters are some of the best I have ever come across in fiction. And here’s a bonus fact: it was the first book I ever reviewed here on my blog (two years ago now! – where has the time gone?)
